Hello, and welcome to MCS Dgupguri.

Mount Carmel School Dhupguri in the district of Jalpaiguri is an institution with a difference aiming at the wholesome development of children. From the moment of its establishment in the heart of Dhupguri, it has left a spark and now it has turned into a fire creating miracles in the hearts of children. It has succeeded in bringing about a change in the whole perspective of teaching scenario. In this era of cut throat competition, it is of paramount importance to impart an integrated education to the future citizens of the Nation keeping in mind the need for multitasking. Therefore Mount Carmel School lay special emphasis on both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities providing students an edge over others to be a leader in their respective field of activity.

I am so happy to present to the viewers a webpage with all that you want to know about the school as yet another 'first initiative' among many other such initiatives accomplished during the last two years. In this constantly ever changing society the young minds are pitted with drastic changes in their environment. In these formative years they need a genial, tranquil and natural learning environment. With the ever increasing demand of competitions, fast changing values, pressure of challenging career and increasing love for materialistic life it has become difficult for the individuals to maintain its values intact. We at Mount Carmel try to imbibe values of love, culture and knowledge through education. We help them to adjust and adapt to the emerging society of multicultural thoughts, beliefs and religions. It fosters them with the courage that kindles optimism and the willpower not to give up during adversities.

As a Christian institution we try to create a community school climate that reproduces, as far as possible, the warm and intimate atmosphere of family life by promoting a common spirit of trust and spontaneity. This means that teachers together with parents and school-board members work as a team for the school's common good. The Catholic philosophy of education has always paid special attention to the quality of interpersonal relations in the school community, especially those between teachers and students. The student is seen as a person whose intellectual growth is harmonized with spiritual, religious, emotional, and social growth. Since "education is a thing of the heart," authentic formation of young people requires the personalized accompanying of a teacher. As a Catholic school we safeguard the priority of the person, both student and teacher.

A final indicator of a school's authentic catholicity and commitment is the vital witness of its teachers and administrators. We take to the heart the responsibility for creating a Christian school climate, as individuals and as a community. Indeed, "it depends chiefly on them whether the Catholic school achieves its purpose." We find an unequalled model in Jesus Christ, the Father's great witness, who said nothing about himself but spoke as the Father had taught him [cf. John 8:28]. So I wish all those view this website of ours all the best and my prayers...

Education plays an important role in enabling a person to face the real life situations with adequate knowledge. School is a temple of learning and Mount Carmel School is an institution that tries to equip its children to face the realities of life with guts and vigour. We, The sisters of Divine Zeal, are collaborating with the Carmelite Fathers in Mount Carmel to realise this goal for each and every child in the school. The school cannot be seen as a separate entity, but must be related to the world of politics, economy, culture and society as a whole. As

catholic Christian school we try to fulfil a service of public usefulness. The dimension of openness becomes particularly evident in countries in which Christians are not in the majority like India, our motherland. We try to create a sense of belonging to the school and consequently to the society, country and the world at large.
